Pulp Fiction: A Tribute
So many good lines- where do we start? The best part of Pulp Fiction is it’s dialogue. We’d been itching to have a go at lettering and illustrating some of our favorite bits from the film for some time. Our goal was to give a burger some class, an ill-fated show a title treatment deserving of a prime-time slot, and pay homage to the wallet that steals the whole movie, all while giving each individual piece some unmistakable Tarantino vibes.

The Process: Fox Force 5
Initial Exploration
Every lettering piece starts with several thumbnail sketches to explore. Nothing too detailed- just getting a feel for the words, how they might work together, and discovering a sense of style.
Sketch Development
The final composition for Pulp Fiction’s Fox Force 5 art tribute has that groovy, 1970s vibe we were looking for while still being strong and not too dated. Our lead lettering artist, Stephanie Owens, wanted it to feel fitting for the title treatment for a show about five foxy, forceful females.
Vectorize and add some final touches
Onward to Adobe Illustrator! After the initial shapes were finalized, we added a classic Pulp Fiction color scheme, and added dimension using the handy-dandy blend tool. To give the Pulp Fiction tribute art piece a bit more punch, we incorporated additional linework, while shadows and highlights were added to give the composition a bit more dimension.
