Metallica is one of our favorite bands, and their Black Album was a favorite growing up as teenagers in the 90s. This tribute to the albums “Unforgiven” ties in the song’s nod to Ennio Morricone and his iconic spaghetti western soundtracks. The hand lettering is a mashup of the typical reverse contrast slab serifs seen in the westerns of the 1960s, but flares were added to give break away from the tradition, since we are talking about metal here. Traditional shadows and a water gilding effect were added, but once again we went for the unexpected with teal dimension and shine to give the piece added texture.
